First rant :)

So today's rant is about my family Dr. I've been with him for about 15yrs now. Basically since he started his practice. He knows me very well and my 5 children.
Over the past several years, we (all his patients) have noticed a steady decline in his work schedule. Appointments would be suddenly cancelled the day before because he wanted to take vacations and such. We've been noticing in his office, advertisement for age defying creams, botox and retalyne type treatments. At first I didn't think anything of it but then he started putting his certifications to do these treatments along with his own before and after pictures. Suddenly when you call for an appointment, we are being told that his normal 2 week wait period is now 3-4 weeks. I figure the man is busy so I figure if it's important I'll go to the clinic. After several month we start noticing that it's a 2mth wait. Well now we are at 3 months wait. Turns out he is only available now 2 mornings/week because he's traded his patients for the prestige and fortune of doing his cosmetic procedure business.
So when I have some work related papers to fill out that are time sensitive, what is a person to do when they can't wait 3 months??? According to his secretary you go see him in the walk-in-clinic that he will be at. Yet somehow when I persue this option, I am told that since I am not sick, he will not see me at a clinic and to make an appointment. The papers would take a mere 5 mins yet I'm not a priority despite the fact that he filled them out wrong the first time and has cost me a months worth of pay since it was for my sick time. The secretary wouldn't even allow me to speak to him to explain claiming that he didn't have my chart and would take at least 20mins to fill out. If I could give him a swift quick in the arse, I would do so with glee! I wonder if he'll still see me once I talk to a lawyer about the house and car ect...that we could loose without my paycheck and the papers he refused to sign on time???? Maybe even tell the local newspapers here how I was turned down from care at a clinic because I wasn't sick enough?
I've since decided to change Doctors. Thankfully I work at a place where I've made some connection and can get a new one soon. I know there are some people out there that would say "Be thankfull you even have a doctor" but seriously what's the point if you can't see him? A few years back I saw him for a constant feeling of my heart racing, the shakes and feeling a weird type of anxiousness like I had to move at all times. I was told for months that it was all in my head and that it was stress/anxiety. No further tests or evaluation. Not even listening to my heart or taking my blood pressure I go home defeated. 6Months later I'm in the ER on a heart rate monitor unable to stand without feeling like I'm going to faint. Turns out I had a disorder all along! I know I'm not the only one who's been ignored before. We, the patients, pay their wages for their fancy cars, house and trips. We need to stand up and have a say as to the quality of care we are not being provided with. Time to make doctors responsible for their inactions!!!
I almost want to have the US form of health care. At least I'd be getting what I needed and on time!
