So this past week we did another spray of the house and the cats... Verdict says... No more fleas on the cats!!! Still some in the boys room but only 1 so far this week so this is a huge improvement!!! We are still planning on tearing out the carpet to put hardwood anyways but at least until we have time this will bee one less worry. Just in case (and it probably was the worst source) we are keeping the cats out of the boys room. It seems to have payed off. Gosh I hope we never have to deal with that again!!

I'm going crazy here...
So two weeks after spray and we are still getting fleas!! Everyweek we spray the cats and always find a dozen or so. One thing I've noticed is that they are getting smaller each week so maybe these are the last bunches? We had the company come in and spray again. This time he said he double dosed the basement and moved furniture and cushions plus added a new spray that killed fleas and eggs. Wtf!? You think he would have done that right from the start! If it doesn't work this time we well be ripping out the carpet. The boys will just have to wait until the fall to have new flooring. Not missing vacation time for a silly floor.

Still...?
so its Sunday night after work and I want to enjoy a nice cuddle with my kitty. He snuggles on my lap while I pet him and suddenly something pinches my inner thigh. Wtf!? I think. Start checking his fur and sure enough a flea! Dan didn't find it when he looks so thinks I'm imagining it. Monday evening he looks again but takes more time this time and sure enough he finds one. W get out the flea spray this time and run the cats well. A dozen fall of the kitten!!! That's more then ever! 5 fall off sassy which means she got then from the kitten. Since sassy spent the last three days of the weekend outside I now know the problem is somewhere in the house... Its become quite obvious that the exterminator has not effectively spray everywhere like he was supposed to. So I call the company back and them. They try to say that the spray causes the eggs to all hatch and that is the reason but when I tell them that I was told they would be rendered unable to bite therefor breaking the life cycle but that I got bite they change their story. I also tell them that I doesn't make sense that they have more fleas then ever and they had none on Tuesday. They must be picking them up somewhere in the house. They say by law they are not allowed to respray for three weeks yet someone left a message on my phone yesterday saying that they could be here Thursday to spray the house. Great! So are we going to start growing third arms or die of some weird cancer now if we do it too closer together? No one has answered yet... I'm all for ridding the problem but not at the health and safety of my kids or pets. Dan's solution? Rid the cats. Ummmmm I don't think so.

Are they gone yet?
So the exterminator came by this week. First thing? 4 freaking hours late!! Not impressed at all. Especially since I had my Kitties and kids ready to go the whole time. I finally called the company and gave them a blast. Its something called communication! I don't mind the guy being late but the least he could have done was call to say so. Apparently I was his last run of the day. I'm beginning to think so more and more because it looks like he didn't do the whole house as he said. There are many areas that have objects that haven't even been moved and they were against the baseboards where they said they'd concentrate their efforts. Today I found a twitching flea downstairs and one on my arm. So far it looks like they are dying. Time will tell. I'm constantly checking the kittens fur just on case. Seriously though... What the heck purpose does a flee have? Nothing eats it. Its not part of a food chain. So why does it even exist!?

This WILL be the end of them...
So I'm impatiently sitting here waiting for the exterminator to arrive! Still more critters jumped in my pans last night although their numbers are dwindling. I just need to be over and done with all this. My cats are in the carrier ready to go and I'll give them one more flea bath just to be sure with a fur check. Unfortunately I have to bring them to camp for the night add its our only hide away when we have to be gone for 4 hrs but this time they are staying inside. Lets hope this is the last of them.

Still???
Are you kidding me!?!? After spending almost 2 hours vacuuming one room even with the crevice tool under all the baseboards... There's still fleas!! I've finally given up! I called a pest control agency today and they will be by tomorrow. One way or another I will beat these little bastards! I just hope my fish makes it out ok.
I will never take my Kitties camping again! Over 5 yrs my cat goes outside and we've never had this issue before. Arg! One weekend at camp and one Houdini escape artist cat loose in the camp site for 1/2 hr and she gets fleas! My laundry machine is going to call it quits at this rate. Or at least my dryer anyways...
At least Damian is getting fixed on Wednesday. He's finally 3lbs and big enough for the big snip snip. At least the house will be done so he can finally sleep upstairs again where I can watch him. Maybe sassy will turn the tables and tackle him for once. Lol

Arg!!!!
Well despite my best efforts there are still fleas in the boys room!!!! I'm about to lose my marbles! I don't care what Dan says. That carpet needs to go!! Actually all the carpets need to go! I don't need my poor Kitties locked away in a bathroom forever. Tomorrow is flea bath day and we will see if they are finally clear... Crossing all crossables.

And the war continues...
My ever so loving boyfriend took initiative today while I was at work... He flea powdered the boys room and vacuumed for me. Although he claims he moved all furniture I now know otherwise... It's the thought that counts... As I'm putting my youngest son to bed I figure I'll try the dish water and light trick again. Sure enough another little critter is happily plunging to it's death! As I move a garbage can another jump into hiding... Alas they still live! Well not for long! Dan has bought yet another different product in our attempt to annihilate! This one called "premise 2000" an aerosol spray. So the room is now a gassy anti flea zone. Even the mattresses have been sprayed. All bedding back in the laundry along with everything in their drawers (which they tend to leave open all the time for jumping fiends. I've even vacuumed their drawers. I'm currently trying the soapy water and light thing in the downstairs living room and all bedrooms upstairs. So far the bare flooring bedrooms have provided no victims... The living room carpet shows one so far... Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow night...

Fleas part 2
So the old trick of night light and pan of soapy water actually worked!!! The lamp didn't work but a small night light did. 9 little buggers jumped to their death in a watery grave!
Mom -1
Fleas-0
Tonight I will do another super vacuum as I also spread baking powder on the 2 carpeted areas. Luckily the kids will be gone for the weekend do I can spray their room down. My poor Kitties are currently not enjoying their bathtub getaway. I went in to spend so time with them last night and sweep their litter mess. I swear they are doing it to get back for being cooped up. Litter was thrown everywhere! If this is what it takes to win the war then so be it! I think I can! I think I can!

FLEAS!!!!!
At long last after having so many cats throughout my lifetime,I am having my first experience with fleas. Not once in the past 5 years has my outdoor cat ever had fleas until we brought her to camp! Now I find myself in a daily combat with the itch causing little bastards. I, of course, am allergic to the little suckers and have been suffering with total body itch since just before they were discovered... I had nearly passed it off as environmental allergies as it was that time of year but now know otherwise :(
After 2 weeks of flea bathes and vacuuming we are still finding them I'm the kids room. Just tonight I finally tried the soapy water under a night light trick. 3 hrs later and sure enough there are 8 already drowned fleas. I'll be afraid to check in am...
Unfortunately I'm working the next 3 days so my all out war will have to wait until then. For now, we have vacuumed the house and washed/powdered the cats and quarantined them to the bathroom until we can fully tackle the house. Lets just hope my skin can hold up until then...
